Reflecting
over the 1998 RAJA MUDA SELANGOR INTERNATIONAL REGATTA, it was
combined with the joy of winning and dispensed with
some unfortunate moments of despair and disappointment
for some. As no major sponsors could be found, the Club
had to rely on local advertisers and smaller sub-sponsors
to undertake some of the costs involved in running the
RMIR '98.
Although
the number of international competitors who came to
Malaysia to contest decreased to 17 yachts, the quality
of the 27 strong fleet (which included 10 of the best
prepared Malaysian yachts), assembled around the RSYC
pontoons in Port Klang on 22nd November was impressive.
The Raja Muda of Selangor, hosted a grand opening dinner
and welcomed back past competitors.
In a nutshell, the 9th Raja Muda
International Regatta, which was from the 21st to 29th
November 1997, was a memorable event that saw the recipe
for success.
