The
5th RAJA MUDA SELANGOR INTERNATIONAL REGATTA saw a record line-up
with over eighty keel boats participating from more
than 15 countries, from 20 - 29 November. Worthy of
note is the participation from the Royal Selangor Yacht
Club (RSYC) fleet, which stood at 13, more than half
being in the racing division; and has more than doubled
since the year before.
Besides, a new Regatta Cup replaced
the old. It was specially commissioned and crafted by
Garrard of London, whose creation of America's Cup and
other coveted trophies is legendary. While this trophy
itself is perpetual, each year's winner retained a miniature
replica standing 6 1/2".
After the RSYC was damaged in a fire in 1992, the Regatta
Committee geared up to complete a new Clubhouse, and
was still in the process of completion. Nevertheless,
the spirit and enthusiasm lingered on throughout the
Regatta. It was truly a tremendous success.
